Deena Al-Sharif (Speech And Language Therapist
Deena obtained her BSc (Hons) in Speech Sciences from University College London, UK. She worked as a paediatric therapist across several mainstream schools in London before securing a specialist role in hearing impairment at the world-renowned Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children (Cochlear Implant Programme).
Since relocating to Kuala Lumpur in 2013, Deena has been offering services across different clinics, international schools and home-based settings to support children with various communication difficulties. She values a multidisciplinary approach with an emphasis on family and school-based intervention to empower and equip parents and educators with tools to support children’s communication development outside of therapy sessions.
In addition to her direct clinical work, Deena has been a specialist advisor to community speech and language therapists and other professionals in the area of hearing impairment. She has supervised, trained and lectured speech and language therapy undergraduate and graduate students and has also published a series of articles on speech and language therapy.
